Celebrate, celebrate!

Has it really been a month since I’ve posted something? Flime ties, doesn’t it.

Much has occurred since then, and much is about to occur worthy of celebrating.

First, tomorrow Marggie and I head for College Park to share in a proud moment–daughter Cassie will be among a group being feted for finishing the accelerated master’s program at U.Md. Her degree is in education; her specialty, English as a second language. She’ll begin the school term at a Maryland middle school, helping young adolescents learn to text in proper English.

Older daughter Helen also completed her master’s degree program at Penn State–yay!! We will head there next month for more celebrating.

In case you haven’t heard, I also have observed a watershed. I now am fully retired (still freelancing, in case anybody needs any gud ritin’).

Of course, all this good news allows me to turn the conversation to celebratory suds (I still love wearing the Beer Guy hat). Suggestions, folks?

Belgians take high priority, particular Duvel (almost a champagne in its golden, rich texture) and Chimay (blue label for me, please). Under the circumstances, Three Philosophers from Ommegang in Cooperstown, N.Y.., seems appropriate for a trio newly licensed to hold forth on matters ranging from primate cognition to club selection for recovering from a misguided tee shot.

Cheers to all. Think of something to celebrate and share.

About admin

I am a writer. And a musician/songwriter. And a husband/father. I love good beer, the outdoors, the embrace of family, the company of true friends, the telling of a good story and the inner peace derived from quiet reflection in solitude. Recently I have specialized in beer writing. My most recent adventure is "Virginia Beer: A Guide from Colonial Days to Craft's Golden Age" published fall 2018 by University of Virginia Press. In October 2014, "Richmond Beer: A History of Brewing in the River City" was published by History Press. "Charlottesville Beer: Brewing in Jefferson's Shadow," followed in January 2017. Send me an email at rvabeerguy@gmail.com. As you can see from this site, however, my interests are broader than beer. Spend time, leave a comment or just enjoy. Lee
